The Wheatsheaf Inn

The picturesque village of Symington is home to the Wheatsheaf Inn. This charming 15th century building has a wonderful, traditional atmosphere, and serves up wholesome food that is indisputably Scottish. Since the 18th century, there’s been a holstery on the premises, and in the days of stage coaches, the Inn was an extremely important posting stage. Milton, Martin and Marnie Thompson have been running the inn for over 20 years, and continue to offer their customers an extensive menu of delicious dishes. Local, fresh produce is prepared with care and imagination, to create a typical menu which consists of more than a dozen starters and an even wider selection of main courses. There is always a daily choice of fish, meat, poultry and vegetarian dishes available, and home-made sweets to finish the meal off nicely. Diners can enjoy Scottish haggis and Cullen skink, or locally sourced scallops and steak. There is also an outstanding choice of wines available to complement your meal, while in good weather you can enjoy your meal in the beer garden, the only one for miles around.

Great atmosphere and great choice of drinks. All very reasonably prived too. Really good and diverse choice of live music as well!
